Who We Are
Barefoot Sport was founded by Bengy Barsanti and James Matthews, who bring a combined 40+ years of experience in the endurance event industry.
Between them, they’ve delivered close to 100+ events across running, swimming, and triathlon — some with participant numbers of 10,000+ — while working with major sponsors and managing event marketing from grassroots to marquee scale. They’ve seen it all: the successes, the challenges, and the frustrations that come when technology doesn’t keep pace.
Why We Built Barefoot Sport
Over the years, we’ve watched international platforms from the US, Canada, and Europe enter the Australian and New Zealand markets. While functional, they rarely reinvest in local events, and often place Australia and New Zealand at the back of the queue when it comes to development priorities. Waiting months for even basic changes to suit local organisers has been the norm — and that’s not good enough.

We knew the endurance community deserved better.
